In 1999, FIDIC published the “Rainbow Suite” of New Contracts, providing standard conditions of contract for construction, plant and design industries. Included in this is the Red Book, which illustrates the Conditions of Contract for Construction for Building and Engineering Works Designed by the Employer, and is the most widely used International Construction Contract. While best known for drafting contracts between Employers and a Contractor, FIDIC also drafts model agreement for professional services including, Client and Consultant, Client and Architect, Joint Ventures between Consultants, Sub-consultant Agreement, and Representatives Agreement. All FIDIC publications work to achieve their mission statement to: “improve business climate and promote the interests of consulting engineering firms globally and locally, consistent with the responsibility to provide quality services for the benefit of society and the environment.”
